Do you want a decorative umbrella base with a built-in planter? This umbrella stand with planter has a large base where you can add weight AND plants!
In addition, the umbrella stand comes with 2 heavy-duty wheels, so you can roll it around and move your sunshade wherever you want. Just lean the pole to tilt the base and gently push to roll it.
The mobile design makes your freestanding shade canopy very versatile, so you can use it for more activities. Compared to stationary umbrella bases, you can get a lot more use out of this style (and it doesn’t cost that much more).
Note: The base is super easy to set up, with virtually no assembly required. Plus, by adding the weight after you receive the product, you don’t have to haul a heavy planter to your backyard (it only weighs 21 pounds when empty).
How to Set Up Your Planter in 3 Steps:
1. Add Weight to the Base:

First, I suggest adding gravel, pebbles or small rocks to the planter. You can easily find these at your local home improvement store for cheap. Make sure they don’t fall through the drainage holes at the bottom of the planter (add mesh screens if necessary).
The stones can increase the weight of the planter up to 150 pounds. As a result, this base can support large patio and market umbrellas up to 11 feet in diameter, and even some cantilever umbrellas. If you want to know more about how much weight to add for your umbrella size, check out the umbrella weight chart on this page.
2. Insert Plants into the Gravel:

Next, add potted plants in small containers that you can fit amongst the gravel or rocks. When you water your plants, the excess water will drain out the bottom of the umbrella base. However, the soil will stay in the flower pots rather than mixing in with the gravel.
Over time, the foliage can grow large enough to cover the gravel entirely (depending on the plants you choose). This gives you the look of one large garden with the benefit of added weight hidden underneath.
Note: Having plants in separate pots also makes it easier to switch out flowers. For example, you can plant annuals and update them every year. Or make an herb garden or edible plants like berries.
3. Secure Your Umbrella Pole:
Last, insert your umbrella pole into the umbrella base. The center pole support has adjustable knobs. Therefore, you can easily tighten them to secure your umbrella pole, even if it has a smaller diameter.
This cool feature prevents your umbrella pole from wobbling around whenever the wind blows. It stays secure, even if the diameter doesn’t fit perfectly. Consequently, you have more options when buying umbrellas, which allows you to choose the perfect color, save money, etc..
